Relationships

Connecting with those on your team is your best opportunity for success at leadership.  It is important to develop solid relationships with others.  Identify these five characteristics in your relationships:

  1. Respect - This stems from a desire to place value on others.  Respect should be shown even before it is earned.
  2. Shared Experiences - This usually happens when you take the time to get to know one another.
  3. Trust - An essential component to good relationships.  It's earned through spending time together.
  4. Reciprocity - In order for relationships to last one person cannot always be the giver.
  5. Mutual Enjoyment - It's an indication of growth when just being together turns unpleasant tasks into positive experiences.

Ralph Waldo Emerson once said...

Without ambition one starts nothing.  Without work one finishes nothing.  The prize will not be sent to you.  You have to win it.
